dye lite askewed

i know how to use it, worked fine in my old laptop. got a new one with windows 8.1... don't know if that affects it or anything. the color codes come out unaligned with the dye slots. instead of showing up right underneath the slot boxes, the codes appear way off the dye window to the bottom and right of the window. this means that the "click here" crosshair is also off of the entire window. basically the whole thing is askewed down and to the right. also, the cursor magnifying box is also displaying magnified images of things that are actually to the bottom and right of where the cursor actually is. dye lite is utterly useless to me with this problem. anyone know what i can do to fix it?
