Getting started with the scripting and hacking etc.

So, I want to get into this stuff and make my own stuff, but where would I start? I imagine doing like a radar like the Lovely gent Stewart has done wouldn't be too hard.

Or am I completely wrong about it?

If someone could point me in the right direction it'd be swell.

Preferably for game like h1z1, I'm sorrry if im in the complete wrong place for this.
