[Question] Reverse engineering advice

I noticed while looking through the source for a BF2 aimbot today that someone (Patrickz?) managed to reverse engineer many of the game engine's classes. I've been hard at work trying to write my own aimbot from scratch for a while now using Cheat Engine and OllyDbg and I'm amazed that anyone has been able to reverse engineer the game so thoroughly. All I've really been able to accomplish for myself after months of investigation is to locate the 0xA08F60 pointer to the pointer to the linked list of players. What I'm wondering is if I'm missing anything here? Are there tools or techniques that I'm not aware of that make reverse engineering a game engine an easier task?



I'd like to get good enough at this to be the one making the SDKs.
